DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Downers Grove South was among just six Illinois schools to advance to the state finals for the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow competition. The nationwide contest challenges middle and high school students to use STEM-based strategies to solve real-world problems affecting local residents.

Schools that made it into the contest's state finals received $2,500 and were asked to submit an activity plan that will be evaluated to determine who will be Illinois's state finalist.

A spokesperson for Community High School District 99 told Patch, "South High is honored to be selected as a finalist in the 14th annual Samsung Solve for Tomorrow STEM contest. The competition helps empower our students to broaden their knowledge and continues to foster our students’ enthusiasm and growth for engineering."
