Fireworks Cause $150K Of Damage To Westmont Home; Juveniles Charged
Three juveniles face felony charges after police say they lit fireworks near a home in Westmont.
WESTMONT, IL — Three juveniles face felony charges after police say they shot off fireworks that struck a home in Westmont, causing $150,000 in damage.
Police were called to the 100 block of West Naperville Road around 11:30 a.m. Monday for a report of a fire. A witness told police they had seen people igniting fireworks near the home just before the blaze. The witness said three juveniles fled shortly after the fireworks were set off.
Shortly after, police arrested three juveniles who matched the witness's description. The home was deemed to be uninhabitable after the fire. The three juveniles were charged with criminal damage to property and released to their homes pending court dates.
