Grants To Help Fund Fully Accessible Playground At Constitution Park
The Downers Grove Park District plans to add a pavilion shelter, a new walking path and accessible features to upgrade Constitution Park.
DOWNERS GROVE, IL — With more than $600,000 grants as impetus, the Downers Grove Park District (DGPD) plans to begin upgrades to Constitution Park, including work to make the playground fully accessible.
The trio of grants includes $425,000 from the Department of Natural Resources and $175,000 from the Department of Commerce and Economic Development. The Illinois Park and Recreation Association also recently awarded DGPD a grant to assist with making the park's playground fully accessible.
“The uniquely designed playground featuring wheelchair-accessible ramps, sensory experiences and more will enhance inclusive play at Constitution Park," Paul Fyle, DGPD planning and construction director said in a statement.
