How To Recycle Christmas Trees In Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Now that Christmas has passed, residents in Downers Grove can recycle their trees at two locations in the village.

Christmas tree recycling will be available through Jan. 15, giving residents a chance to drop off their trees to be repurposed into wood chips. Each year, the Downers Grove Park District uses wood chips from the recycled trees as mulch.

The following locations are accepting trees for recycling:

  • McCollum Park, 6801 S. Main St., Downers Grove
  • Whitlock Park, 4000 Fairview Ave.

Participants can drop their trees off in bins at each park. Lights, ornaments and other decorations should be removed from the trees.
