Library is Still in the Running in LEGO Contest
The winner will get $5,000 cash to spend on books and supplies.

Not often—outside some Chicago elections—can you vote once a day, every day for your favorite candidate.
The Downers Grove Public Library is in a contest that will net $5,000 books and supplies from the Lego Duplo Read! Build! Play! project.
But its patrons have to vote.

LEGO® DULEGO® DUPLO® and the Association for Library Services To Children have joined to celebrate and support local libraries. The most nominated library in the "Read! Build! Play!" project will receive the cash prize. The top 200 libraries receive a special LEGO DUPLO Read! Build! Play! toolkit filled with cutting edge, early literacy programming that combines preschool books with a versatile collection of DUPLO bricks.
Downers Grove took an early lead when voting started, but the library now is in third place.

The leading contenders are:
- First place: Mount Airy Public Library, Mount Airy, N.C., 23,467 votes
- Second place: Rochester Hills Public Library, Rochester, Mich., 14,574 votes
- Third place: Downers Grove Public Library, 14,358 votes.
These three libraries have consistently been the top vote-getters, said Melissa Doornbos, public relations manager for the library. “It’s a lot to ask people to vote every day, but the support we have been getting is great.”
Downers Grove needs at least 9,110 votes to take the lead.
There's good news, though! You can vote for the library once a day, every day until Oct.1, when voting ends.
