Man On Parole For Aggravated Robbery Robs Gas Station At Gunpoint In Oak Brook: Cops

OAK BROOK, IL — Police say a man who was on parole for aggravated robbery robbed a Circle K at gunpoint in Oak Brook in early November.

Jamion Winters, 34, of Maywood, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a repeat felony offender and armed robbery with a firearm in connection with the Nov. 9 incident.

Police were called to the Circle K gas station just before 9:15 p.m. on Nov. 9 for a report of an armed robbery. A clerk told police Winters came into the gas station and approached them from behind wearing a black face mask and a gray hooded sweathshirt with the hood up.

Police say Winters pointed a gun at the employee and said, "Give me the money. Open it. Open it and sit down," before pushing the clerk down, grabbing the clerk and forcing them to open the cash registers.

Winters is accused of stealing $457 in cash before fleeing. He was taken into custody by Oak Brook police during a traffic stop on Wednesday.

"It is alleged alleged that earlier this month, Jamion Winters, a man with multiple felony convictions including aggravated robbery and two armed robberies committed yet another armed robbery," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement.

Berlin added, "By law, as a convicted felon, Mr. Winters has forfeited his right to legally possess a firearm. With the holiday season officially underway, I want to assure the public that law enforcement in DuPage County is ready, willing and more than able to ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday season for all as you venture out to enoy all that DuPage County has to offer. The apprehension of the defendant in this case serves as a warning to anyone who may even be thinking about victimizing a DuPage County business. We will not tolerate crime, and we wil not give up on any case until charges are filed."

Winters is currenty being held in DuPage County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 22.
