Mustangs Claim Second Victory of Girls' Swim Season

The Mustangs jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back.

The Downers Grove South High School girls swim team claimed their second victory of the season by a score of 106 to 74 over Benet Academy.

The Mustangs jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back. The Mustang divers got the team off to a great start securing first and second place.

Then, Varsity relay swimmers Nicole Molnar, Allie Puccillo, Alyssa Reinholz and Paige Vondrasek took first place in the 200 yard medley relay. Junior Beth Vetter placed first in the 200 yard freestyle and the Mustangs took the top three spots for the 50 yard freestyle with Alyssa Reinholz in first, Makaila Scheiblein in second, and Nicole Molnar in third place. Reinholz had another strong swim with a second place finish in the 100 yard butterfly.

Sophomore Allie Puccillo placed first in both the 100 yard freestyle and the 100 yard breaststroke. Freshman Annie Leinart took second place in the 100 yard breaststroke. Varsity relay swimmers Molnar, Vondrasek, Puccillo and Reinholz finished first in the 200 yard freestyle relay, while Scheiblein, Anna Bogdanski, Leinart and Vetter finished off the meet with a win in the 400 yard freestyle relay.
