Officer, It's the Radiator. Really

a car driven by a Hickory Hills man July 8 because the car had only one headlight. During the traffic stop at 12:33 a.m. on the 500 block of north LaGrange Road, an officer told the motorist that he smelled marijuana. The man, Joseph A. Mirabelli, 46, replied that the smell could actually be coming from the radiator.

The officer didn't buy his idea, and said that Mirabelli admitted he had marijuana in the car. The officer said he found a clear plastic bag of a green leafy substance tucked into the passenger seat and that the substance field tested as cannabis. Mirabelli was charged with possession of cannabis and ticketed for improper lighting, only one headlight.

Sinking Teeth into Security Guard

Sean Moran, 7956 S. Keeler St., Chicago, July 22 after a security guard at Rita's American Roadhouse, 1211 Butterfield Rd., was bitten in the bicep. According to the police report, Moran was being escorted for disorderly behavior when he wrestled with a security guard outside and tried to take a chunk out of him.

Hope These Two Stolen Items Aren't Mixed Together

First, from an unspecified business in Garden Market around 1:09 p.m. July 17. Then, the next day around 2:11 p.m., someone stole a bottle of Bushmill Whiskey from an unspecified business in Garden Market. No word from the police about the suspect or suspects.

Man, Woman Fight Over Unpaid Wages

A 38-year-old man and 46-year-old woman with each other after the woman went to the man's apartment July 18 and demanded he pay her wages she said he owes her for three weeks of truck driving. The man told police the woman demanded $900. When he said he'd pay her but didn't have the money yet, she started yelling and cursing at him before jumping on his back and hitting him. He said he dragged her outside of his apartment by her legs and grabbed her suitcase to bring it outside. She chased him outside, went into his unlocked car, took out some papers and laid on them on the ground, kicking at the man. The woman told police when she confronted him for her money, he grabbed her by the head and slammed her into the wall before dragging her outside while she yelled at him to stop. She said the papers were her driver's logs, and in trying to protect them, she kicked at the man to keep him away from them. The police spoke to witnesses who thought the woman was the aggressor, but no charges were filed.
