Public Drinking at Main Street Depot, Stiffed Cab Driver, DUI: Police Blotter

Downers Grove police reports, Oct. 15-22.

MONDAY, OCT. 22

DUI

Dante L. Sampler, 37, of the 0-50 block of Fernwood Drive in Bolingbrook, was arrested around 1:42 a.m. in the 2300 block of Ogden Avenue, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding. He was issued a Nov. 28 court date.

Criminal Trespass to Land

Victoria Shark, 65, of the 5300 block of Walnut Avenue in Downers Grove, was arrested around 7:20 a.m. after an incident at St. Joseph Church, 4801 Main St., police said.

Police were called to St. Joseph after a man observed Shark, who was advised on other occasions that she was not allowed on the property. According to the report, the man also said he had an unserved order of protection against Shark.

An officer arrested Shark on two failure to appear warrants, one for disorderly conduct and the other for harassment by telephone, police said.

Police confirmed Shark also had two unserved orders of protection. She was served with one from the original male petitioner around 10 a.m., police said.

Shark was charged with criminal trespass to real property. She was released from custody after posting the required $150 on the trespassing charge, and $575 for each of the failure to appear warrants, police said. She is due in court Nov. 21.

SUNDAY, OCT. 21

DUI

Michelle P. Cesar, 46, of the 6000 block of Leonard Avenue in Downers Grove, was arrested around 12:46 a.m. in the 1000 block of 55th Street, police said. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage, failure to signal when required and illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver. She was issued an Oct. 28 court date.

Disorderly Conduct

A woman told police she was standing at the corner of Main Street and Curtiss Avenue around 1:40 p.m. when a white male, approximately 60 years old, walked up to her and began to curse. The man yelled at her because her dog defecated on the sidewalk without her knowledge, police said.

The woman picked up the defecation and threw it away, but the man continued to swear at her, police said. Officers were unable to locate the man after he left the scene.

FRIDAY, OCT. 19

Stolen Purse

A silver purse was stolen around 11:20 p.m. during a fight in the 2000 block of 63rd Street, police said. The purse had an iPhone, a driver's license, credit cards and $20 cash.

MONDAY, OCT. 15

Drinking in Public

Shawn B. Schrader, 44, of the 700 block of Liberty Street in Wheaton, was arrested around 1:04 p.m. at the Main Street train depot, 1000 Burlington Ave., police said.

The officer said he saw Schrader take a 24-ounce can of Steel Reserve beer from his backpack and take a drink while sitting on a bench outside the Main Street depot, according to the report.

He was charged with drinking in public, and was released on an I-bond.

Cab Driver Stiffed

A local cab driver filed a report for theft of service around 6 a.m., police said.

According to the report, the driver said he picked up two men from Bolingbrook and drove them to the Bristol Club apartment complex, 5808 Walnut Ave. When he arrived, the men got out of the cab without paying their $30.20 fare, police said. 

The men were described in the report as about 5-foot-8 with baseball caps. They were approximately 24 to 26 years old, police said.

Property Damage

A football-size rock was thrown through the rear window of a vehicle in the 4900 block Seeley Avenue sometime between 9 p.m. on Oct. 14 and 7 a.m. on Oct. 15, police said.
