Second Annual 'Pink Heals' Run/Walk Set for Wednesday
The Downers Grove Professional Firefighters Union Local 3234 will run/walk to raise funds for Advocate Good Samaritan's Cancer Center Wig Boutique at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The Downers Grove Professional Firefighters Union Local 3234 will host its second annual "Pink Heals Run/Walk on Wednesday to raise funds for the Wig Boutique at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital.
The event—a 1-mile walk and 3-and 6-mile run—will begin at 6:30 p.m. outside the Runners Grove, 5155 Main St. in downtown Downers Grove. The event is free and open to the public, but donations are accepted.
Opened last spring, the Wig Boutique provides free wigs to cancer patients. Wigs can cost between $200 and $2,000, and are usually not covered by insurance, officials said.

The Downers Grove Professional Firefighters Union, which raised and donated funds to open the Wig Boutique, is holding another fundraiser this year to continue supporting the program.
"Pink Heals" will be selling pink and navy blue T-shirts at the Runners Grove and Another Round Bar and Grill, 5141 Main St., for $20. All proceeds go directly to the boutique.

An after party will take place at Another Round Bar and Grill, where event attendees will receive a 20-percent discount on food and drink while enjoying live music from local artist Noah Gabriel and his band.
