1 Dead, 5 injured In Separate Elgin Shootings

Two of those injured were listed in critical condition, police said. One of the shootings was captured in a video posted to social media.

ELGIN, IL — Six people were shot, one fatally, during separate incidents Saturday morning and Monday morning in Elgin, police said.

One man was killed and two others injured early Monday morning in the 200 block of North Jackson Street, according to police. Officials responded to multiple 911 calls at around 2:10 a.m. in the area and found three men with gunshot wounds. Police said all three were taken to a local hospital, where one was pronounced dead.

Police declined to identify the man killed in the shooting until family members were notified. Of the two injured men, one was reported to be in serious condition and the other is in good condition.

According to a preliminary investigation, a verbal fight broke out at the Jackson Street house where the trio was shot. Police said the shooter or shooters were gone before officers arrived, but declined to answer questions about whether authorities had identified them.

The second incident occurred around 2 a.m. Saturday while a group of people were street racing at an industrial complex, police said.

A fight broke out at the complex, located at Commerce Drive and Tollgate Road, and ended in two men shot. Both men, ages 23 and 24, were taken to a local hospital, where one was listed in serious condition and the other in good condition.

A third man, 18, was also shot and took himself to the hospital with injuries that weren't life-threatening, police said.

A video posted on social media captured the moment when shots were fired, prompting several cars to speed away.
