2 People Killed In Crash After Car Swerves To Avoid Deer: Kane Sheriff
Two people died and two others sustained serious injuries in the four-car crash at the intersection of Plank Road and Switzer Road.
KANE COUNTY, IL — Two people were killed in a four-car crash Sunday night that occurred after a driver swerved in an attempt to avoid hitting a deer, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office.
Erik Porcayo-Ramirez, 18, and Rosalio Porcayo-Porcayo, 25, were pronounced dead at the intersection of Plank Road and Switzer Road, south of Pingree Grove, officials said in a news release Monday afternoon.
Deputies were dispatched at 9:43 p.m. to the intersection. Detectives determined that a red Ford F150 was traveling west on Plank Road when the driver, 18-year-old Vance Peterson, swerved to avoid the animal. The truck went into oncoming traffic, narrowly missing a passing landscape truck but crashing head-on into a white GMC Sierra.

The F150 was then hit by a red Dodge Ram and caught fire. First responders rescued Peterson, stuck inside the burning car, by breaking the driver's side window. He sustained serious burns and fractures and was flown to Loyola Hospital, officials said.
Erik Porcayo-Ramirez, of Warrenville, and Rosalio Porcayo-Porcayo, of Elgin, were passengers in the GMC, which was hauling a trailer and skid steer. The car's driver, identified as 22-year-old Yahir Porcayo-Porcayo, of Elgin, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.

Officials did not say if the Ram's sole occupant, a 30-year-old man, was injured.
The crash remains under investigation by the Kane County Sheriff's Office.
Editor's note: The Kane County State's Attorney issued an update Wednesday, identifying one of the people who died as 18-year-old Eric Porcayo-Ramirez. The man was previously wrongly identified as 31-year-old Erick Garcia-Porcayo. Officials said the Kane County Coroner's Office corrected the identification.
