4 Pounds Of 'Black Market Pills' Seized From Man's Car: Sheriff

ELGIN, IL — A 28-year-old man was arrested and charged with fentanyl and methamphetamine trafficking after investigators said they found more than four pounds of drugs in his vehicle, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office.

U.S. postal investigators said they witnessed Dante Howse, 28, of Hoffman Estates, pick up a "suspicious looking package," at a post office on Oct. 28. Authorities followed Howse into Elgin and pulled him over.

Police said they determined they had probable cause to search his vehicle, but did not immediately respond to questions on what they felt gave them reason to conduct a search. Inside the car, officials said they found around two pounds of illegally manufactured M-30 OxyContin and two pounds of AD-30 Adderall pills, according to a news release.

Officers said later investigation revealed the M-30 pills were cut with Fentanyl and the AD-30 pills contained methamphetamine.

Howse faces charges of controlled substance trafficking, methamphetamine trafficking, possession with the intent to deliver more than 900 grams of fentanyl, possession with the intent to deliver more than 900 grams of methamphetamine and possession of more than 900 grams of methamphetamine. All of the charges are class X felonies.

The man is being held in Kane County jail on $2 million bond. His next court date is scheduled for Nov. 5.
