7 Homes Featured On Historic Elgin House Tour

The house tour will be held this weekend.

ELGIN, IL -- You will have the chance to take a peak inside some of Elgin's gorgeous, historic homes this weekend. The Historic Elgin House Tour will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 8 and 9. Registration for the event is from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Now in it's 37th year, the tour has opened the doors to more than 229 homes across Elgin. This year, seven homes will be featured on the tour, including a high Victorian at 802 Douglas Avenue, a Gambrel-style home at 832 Douglas Avenue, a stick-style home at 1045 N. Spring Street, a craftsman home at 1028 N. Spring Street, a Queen Anne home at 903 Douglas Avenue, a mid-century modern at 905 Brook Street, and a colonial revival at 1013 Douglas Avenue.

This 2-day open format architectural event allows you to tour the interiors of historic homes normally off-limits to the general public, according to the event website.

Adult admission for both days of the tour is $20 and you can also purchase separate tickets for $30 for the Elgin history dinner on Saturday night, according to the event website. The dinner will begin at 6 p.m. at Elgin Public House, 219 E. Chicago Street in Elgin. There will be a featured presentation by Elgin historian Jerry Turnquist.

Youth admission for those 18 years old and younger is $10 and seniors pay $15. Tickets can be purchased online.
