Bomb Squad Called To Kane County Home After Relative Ships Chemicals: Police

Police were called to the home in the 9N800 block of South Leland Court in unincorporated Elgin on Wednesday afternoon.

KANE COUNTY, IL — The Kane County Bomb Squad was called to a residence near Elgin Wednesday afternoon after a family member reportedly shipped chemicals to the home, authorities said.

A resident at the home in the 9N800 block of South Leland Court in unincorporated Elgin called the Kane County Sheriff's Office to report the shipment at about 4:20 p.m., according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Deputies responded to the home and found additional chemicals on the property, police said. The Kane County Bomb Squad was called to the scene "out of an abundance of caution."

An investigation into the incident is ongoing, and there is currently no threat to the public, according to the news release.
