Coroner IDs Woman Killed After Being Hit By Vehicles In Elgin

The collision happened earlier this month in Elgin.

ELGIN, IL — The Kane County Coroner's Office has identified a 35-year-old woman killed when she was hit by two vehicles in Elgin.

The collision happened at about 7:20 p.m. on March 8 when Mayra G. Mendoza, 35, was hit by a 2007 GMC and a 2018 Nissan on State Street near Airport Road, according to a news release from the Elgin Police Department. Mendoza was taken to a hospital where she died.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident and are seeking the public’s assistance with helping identify a potential third vehicle that may be involved in the incident, according to the news release.

Anyone who may have observed the incident is asked to call the police department at 847-289-2666 or to text a tip, send a message to 847411 and include “ELGINPD” in the beginning of the text along with the message and/or tip information.
