Elgin Police Officers Host Dozens of Washington Elementary Kids

Local schoolchildren recently spent a morning with local law enforcement officials.

Dozens of local elementary schoolers recently stopped by the Elgin Police Department to mingle with the chief, take tours and learn about the daily responsibilities of being an officer.

A total of 76 Washington Elementary schoolchildren took part in the Jan. 27 excursion, according to the department's Facebook page. They meandered through the Elgin City Hall and Elgin History Museum; met Police Chief Jeffrey Swoboda; and spent time with the department's K-9, Colt.

"We thank them for stopping by and we hope they enjoyed the tour!" department representatives said, in the Facebook post.
