Kane County Man Gets 49 Years In Prison For Sexually Assaulting Child

A jury found Ernesto Velasquez-Jimenez guilty of predatory criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child.

KANE COUNTY, IL — An Elgin man has been sentenced to 49 years in prison for sexually assaulting a child.

In October, a jury found Ernesto Velasquez-Jimenez guilty on three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and seven counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child.

Prosecutors say Velazquez-Jimenez sexually abused touched the victim, who was under the age of 13 years old, both over and under the clothing on dates between Oct. 1, 2021, and June 3, 2023, according to a news release from the Kane County State's Attorney's Office. Prosecutors say he also sexually abused the victim’s sister in DuPage County.

In addition to the prison term, Velasquez-Jimenez must register for life as a sexual offender.
