Violinist Sylvia Pine to Present Concert

13-yr. old violinist extraordinaire Sylvia Pine to perfrom at Bethel United Church of Christ

The Music at Bethel concert series at Elmhurst's Bethel Church is thrilled to showcase the extraordinary talent of 13-year-old violinist Sylvia Pine. Her performance is sure to captivate the audience at the Bethel United Church of Christ in Elmhurst on Friday, September 5th, 2025, at 7 p.m. Under the guiding hand of Artistic Director Jeffrey Panko, who will accompany the young violinist on the piano, the evening promises to deliver an unforgettable musical experience to the Friday evening crowd.

Sylvia Pine, an Illinois-based violinist, and composer, is the daughter of violinist Rachel Barton Pine, and has already made a significant mark in the music world at just 13 years old. Beginning her violin studies at age two, she studied under the tutelage of Isabelle Rozendaal and Davis King. She has won first prize in over 40 international competitions, including the Young Maestro International Competition, which led to a performance at Carnegie Hall in 2022. Her other notable awards include winning the Rome International Music Competition and the London Young Musician, among many others .

13-year-old Sylvia Pine has won First Prize in more than 40 international competitions as a composer, violinist, and singer. The youngest member of both the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s Young Composer’s Initiative and the Music Institute of Chicago’s Academy, Sylvia has soloed with the Syracuse Orchestra and Tel Aviv Soloists, and has given solo performances in Carnegie Hall (New York), the Musikverein (Vienna), and the Royal Albert Hall (London).

In addition to her violin and composition skills, Sylvia studies baroque and renaissance violin, medieval rebec, American old-time fiddling, Scottish fiddling, electric rock violin, jazz improv, music theory, piano, and voice. She is also a member of the Chicago Youth Concert Orchestra. Her ultimate dream is to compose and sing in an opera.

The concert will last approximately one hour, with a short intermission. A freewill donation with be taken at the door. Parking is free and the church is accessible. Call the church office at (630) 279-4040 with any questions.
