BENSENVILLE, IL – A $1 million Powerball ticket was sold at a Besnenville store, which will get a $10,000 bonus, the Illinois Lottery announced Tuesday morning.

The ticket was purchased at the ExxonMobil convenience store, 1156 S. York Road. In the Aug. 9 drawing, it matched all five numbers – 7-14-23-24-60, the lottery said in a news release.

The winner was a father whose family went anonymously by the name "Malongo," the lottery said. For the lottery, he and his family took a photo with the oversized mock check blocking their faces.

"I drove out to get my car washed at the ExxonMobil, and decided to play the lottery at a new place," the man told the lottery. "I chose Powerball because I wanted to play for the most money."

That decision was life-changing for the family – a father, a mother and three adult children. They have agreed to split the winnings evenly, the lottery said.

"When I checked the numbers, it sank in immediately that I had won," the father said. "I felt relieved, but my wife – she thought I was lying. Then she said, 'We're going to Disney World!'"

He said the money would help further his children's education.

"A few years from now, we hope we’re all less stressed and just happy," he said.
