ELMHURST, IL – An Elmhurst officer saw something in the sky the other day that attracted his interest.

About 5 a.m. Saturday, Officer Jacob Wiegele was patrolling Route 83 from St. Charles Road when he saw a meteor streak toward south Elmhurst, police said.

"Our officers see a lot of unusual things on the night shift, but this is unique," the police department said in a Facebook post. "The quick-thinking officer activated his dash camera just in time and was able to video record the object's descent. Just a cool reminder that police officers witness a lot while most of us are sleeping!"
