This Makes Elmhurst Hospital A Rarity Nationwide
The hospital is also unusual in the way it handles patients' bills.

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst Hospital routinely gets an honor that few do in a nationwide annual survey.
This week, the Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit that rates hospitals nationally, gave the local one an "A" grade in patient safety.
The hospital is one of only 11 nationwide that has received this grade every year since Leapfrog started its ratings in 2012, according to the hospital's parent organization, Endeavor Health.

By one measure, Elmhurst Hospital is unlike many others. Leapfrog says hospitals should not sue patients over late or unpaid bills.

Elmhurst does not file such lawsuits, but those in La Grange and Hinsdale do, according to Leapfrog.
Five other Endeavor hospitals – Edward, Evanston, Glenbrook, Highland Park and Northwest Community – also received the "A" rating.
