ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst is considering taking safety measures at an intersection in the southeast part of town.

On Monday, the city's engineer, Kent Johnson, said the city may present its findings for Adams Street and Stratford Avenue in January. The intersection is a couple of blocks away from Butterfield Park.

Johnson said the intersection has seen more crashes than the one at Kenilworth and Columbia avenues, which is in northeast Elmhurst.

At a meeting Monday, the City Council's public safety committee approved replacing the yield signs at Columbia and Kenilworth with stop signs. The decision was based on the crash history.

The intersection of Adams and Stratford is considered "uncontrolled," which means it has neither stop nor yield signs.
