ELMHURST, IL – Union Pacific Railroad has notified Elmhurst that it will close the Poplar Avenue crossing for 10 days, from July 26 to Aug. 4, the city said Wednesday. The closure is needed for a full crossing renovation affecting all three existing railroad tracks, the city said. A detour is planned for drivers to use the Arlington Avenue/Haven Road crossing to the west. The city said it has posted warning signs alerting the public to the coming closure.
