Group Home Employee Arrested After Allegedly Striking Resident With Disability: Police

Management called the police when they recovered video footage of the woman hitting a seated resident.

An adult group home employee has been arrested following an incident in which she allegedly struck a resident with disabilities earlier this month.

Lasonya T. Butler, 43, of Chicago was charged with one count of aggravated battery after management staff at the group home on South Monterey Street found video footage of her hitting the resident on Jan. 18, Elmhurst police said.

Staff at the home, which is operated by UCP Seguin, alerted police to the situation. Butler had reportedly hit the adult, who has a disability, several times while they were seated. Police took the victim to the hospital for a precautionary exam while Butler was transported to the police station.
