York High School Ranks at No. 31 in Illinois According to U.S. News & World Report

The publication also ranked area high schools on a national scale.

Of all the high schools in Illinois included in a new analysis by U.S. News & World Report, York High School in Elmhurst comes in at No. 31 based on its abillity to prepare students for college and other academic criteria. Fifteen other area high schools also are ranked in the evaluation, which includes nearly 22,000 American public high schools.

The rankings were released as part of the Best High School rankings, now in its fourth edition.

The methodology to produce the rankings included test scores, state assessments and college-level coursework, such as Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) programs, both of which include college-level courses. U.S. News explains its methodology here

Schools were awarded gold, silver or bronze medals based on state proficiency standards, how well they prepare students for college, and other factors.

The only area gold medalist in the list below is Hinsdale Central High School. All the other schools are silver medalists. For the complete list, click here, then filter by state to see all of Illinois’ ranked schools.
