ELMHURST, IL – May 21, 2025 – Encore Center for Performing Arts (ECPA) is proud to announce that Julie Peterson, a York Community High School graduate and Boston Conservatory at Berklee alumna, will join Broadway star Miguel Cervantes on stage at An Intimate Evening with Miguel Cervantes. The performance takes place Thursday, June 12, at the historic Hammerschmidt Memorial Chapel on the campus of Elmhurst University.
“Julie Peterson represents the wealth of artistic talent in this community, and we're proud to partner her with one of Broadway’s brightest stars,” said Jeff Budgell, Board Chairman of ECPA. “This is a world-class performance, built on connection and community, and it’s exactly the kind of experience ECPA was created to make possible.”
The Intimate series was created by ECPA to bring nationally recognized performers to the western suburbs while making space for meaningful community connection through the arts. Select events feature opportunities for local artists to perform alongside headline talent, as with this special collaboration.
“As someone who grew up in Elmhurst, it’s an honor to return and perform alongside Miguel Cervantes,” said Julie Peterson. “This stage and this moment are a reminder of what’s possible when the arts are supported and celebrated locally.”
Cervantes, best known as “Chicago’s Hamilton,” played the title role in Hamilton from 2016 to 2020 in Chicago and continued on Broadway until early 2024, totaling more than 2,000 performances.
This event reflects ECPA’s broader mission to make the arts more accessible across the region. Through performances, education, and outreach, ECPA is building a cultural hub that supports local talent, attracts national performers, and strengthens the economic and social fabric of the western suburbs.
As a nonprofit organization, ECPA is actively fundraising to expand its programming and build a permanent performing arts venue in Elmhurst. With an estimated annual economic impact of $8.2 million and a vision to serve people of all ages and backgrounds, ECPA invites donors, partners, and community members to be part of shaping this legacy.
Tickets for this exclusive event are expected to sell out quickly. Tickets are on sale now at ECPA-Elmhurst.org under the EVENTS tab. Group Packages, Premium Tickets that include a meet & photo, Reserved Group Seating, Adult, and Child tickets are available now.
