Oak Brook Couple Sentenced for Threatening Judge, Filing False Report

A husband and wife from Oak Brook were each sentenced Sept. 14 to two years probation and 34 days in jail, served at 50 percent, after they contacted DuPage County judges.

Sanford Kramer, 65, pleaded guilty to one count of threatening a public official, and Cynthia Kramer, 57, pleaded guilty to one count of disorderly conduct- filing a false crime report, according to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office.

In Aug. 2015, Sanford sent two letters and Cynthia sent one letter to two DuPage County judges, and one of the letters Sanford sent was “of a threatening nature,” the state’s attorney’s office reported.

The Kramers were arrested Aug. 28 from their Oak Brook home in the 100 block of Saddelbrook Lane.

They were both released from custody Monday, having served 17 days since their arrest.

“My office takes any threat or harassment against any officer of the court or member of our judiciary very seriously,” said DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin in a statement. “The fair and impartial administration of justice requires that members of the judiciary or any other officer of the court be permitted to execute their statutory duties free from harassment or fear of retribution.”
