Recycling Effort Helps Elmhurst American Legion
Any money raised from this initiative goes toward the American Legion post's youth programming and the general fund.

ELMHURST, IL – In early December 2023, S&S Metal Recyclers II of Aurora provided a container for the collection of scrap metal at the Elmhurst American Legion. Any metal could be dropped in this container for recycling.
Any funds raised from this initiative go towards American Legion Youth Programming and the post general fund. Recently the Post had their 3rd successful pick resulting in the recycling of over 2,000 pounds of metal (2,022 in total), including 1,340 in aluminum cans and 617 in scrap iron.
Since the initiative began, the Elmhurst American Legion has collected and recycled over 5,000 pounds of scrap metal. This provides funds to the Post and allows for metal to be put towards a local Veterans Charity instead of thrown in a landfill.

This is in line with the mission of the American Legion to provide "service to the community, state and nation." Drop-off is available 24/7. Many entities helped in this endeavor including The York HS Eco Club, Esplanade Fitness of Downers Grove, our members, and the general public. Please continue to bring the Legion your unwanted metal!
