Storm Causes Tree Damage In Elmhurst

The city is working to collect debris from streets and parkways.

ELMHURST, IL – Winds from Thursday night's storm caused damage to trees in Elmhurst, mainly in the central area, the city said in a news release Friday.

The city's forestry employees responded to storm-related issues until about 11:30 p.m. Thursday, addressing a dozen priority sites flagged by police, the city said.

All reported areas were cleared for access and safety, the news release said.

On Friday, forestry crews are continuing the cleanup, starting in the central area and working outward to northern and southern neighborhoods. The city said it may change its plan as new hazardous and safety concerns are identified.

The city said no special brush pickup for storm debris would be conducted, with regular yard waste guidelines applying.
