VILLA PARK, IL – A Villa Park teen twice punched an officer during a chase early Sunday morning, police said.

Shortly before 4 a.m. on St. Charles Road, a Villa Park officer saw a car that had sped away from a Cicero officer a few hours earlier, DuPage County prosecutors said.

The officer tried to stop the driver, who was identified as 18-year-old Aizik Davila.

Davila and three others got out of the car through the passenger door and ran away.

An officer pursued Davila in a residential neighborhood.

Davila tried to jump over a fence, but the officer grabbed him, police said. Davila then punched the officer two times before continuing to run and then being caught shortly after, police said.

He was arrested on felony charges of aggravated battery to a police officer and aggravated fleeing and eluding.

"The accused is yet another individual who chose to flee from the police, a behavior that, unfortunately, has become increasingly common in other communities where such actions are too often tolerated," Villa Park Police Chief Todd Kubish said in a news release. "Additionally, the accused allegedly struck one of our uniformed officers, another unacceptable act that has, regrettably, become more frequent in society today."

A DuPage County judge ordered Davila to stay in jail until his trial.
