Wood Dale Man Critically Injured in Motorcycle Collision

A 45-year-old man was critically injured in the crash. The other driver, a Des Plaines man, sustained minor injuries.

NUNDA TOWNSHIP, IL - A 45-year-old Wood Dale man is in critical condition Monday following a crash between two motorcycles Sunday afternoon in rural McHenry County.

The crash happened at 3:28 p.m. when a 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle was headed south on Roberts Road south of Lamphere Road when it sideswiped a 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle, which was also headed south, according to a McHenry County Sheriff’s Office press release. Both motorcycles lost control and overturned.

The driver of the 2014 Harley Davidson Street Glide, the 45-year-old Wood Dale man, was ejected. He was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he remained in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The driver of the the 2011 Harley Davidson Road Glide Ultra, a 64-year-old Des Plaines man was treated at the scene by Wauconda Fire Protection District and released with minor injuries, according to the news release.

Neither driver was wearing a helmet, police said. Alcohol is not suspected as a cause of the crash.
Roberts Road remained closed for approximately four hours during the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Investigations Unit.
