16-Year-Old Armed With Loaded 'Ghost Gun' Arrested In Evanston

Evanston police arrested a teen boy on Thursday who was in possession of a 9mm ghost gun.

EVANSTON, IL — Evanston police arrested a 16-year-old boy Thursday who was in possession of a loaded ghost gun.

At approximately 8:11 p.m., Special Operations Group detectives pulled over a gray Lexus in the 2400 block of Greenleaf Street for a traffic violation. During the stop, detectives asked the car's occupants to exit the vehicle.

Initially, the 16-year-old driver refused to leave the vehicle, but eventually complied and told police he had a firearm in his waistband.

Officers recovered a black and tan 9mm "ghost gun" with an extended magazine loaded with 23 rounds of ammunition.

The teen was taken into custody and has been petitioned to Juvenile Court
