2 Injured, 1 Critically, in Motorcycle Crash on Emerson
One of the riders, who was not wearing a helmet, is in critical condition.

Felony DUI charges have been filed against both drivers, according to Evanston police.
The drivers were also identified. They are Travis Johnson, 30, of the 1700 block of Grey in Evanston, and Daniel Smith, 57, of the 8400 block of Crawford in Skokie. Both men were charged with one count of felony aggravated DUI and two counts of misdemeanor DUI.

A collision between two motorcyclists in Evanston Saturday night left both injured, one of them critically, according to Evanston police.

The crash happened at about 8:40 p.m. on Emerson near Hartrey, police said. A 30-year-old Evanston resident on a motorcycle accelerated around a vehicle using the bike lane and collided with the second motorcyclist, a 57-year-old from Skokie, likely rear ending him.
Both riders were thrown from their bikes and taken to Evanston Hospital, police said.
The Evanston driver, who was not wearing a helmet, is in critical condition with bleeding in the brain and facial fractures, but is expected to recover, police said.
The Skokie driver, who was wearing a helmet, has a non-life threatening cervical fracture and facial injuries, police said.
Evanston police are continuing to investigate the crash.
