231 Citations: Evanston Police Labor Day, More Stats

Evanston police were busy over the Labor Day weekend and previous weeks, issuing well over 200 citations.

EVANSTON, IL — The Evanston Police Department issued a total of 231 citations over the recent Labor Day effort. The event was part of the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign.

“Through the Labor Day enforcement effort, we helped to make our roads safer and spread the word that preventing impaired driving is a matter of ‘Life or Death,’” said Traffic Sergeant Williams, according to a release from the department.

  • 1 Failure to secure child
  • 69 Cell phone violations
  • 16 Speeding
  • 3 Suspended licenses
  • 19 No insurance
  • 29 Other citations
  • 1 Warrant arrest

The campaign ran from Aug. 16 to Sept. 3.
