EVANSTON, IL — Police said shootings that left four people wounded within less than 24 hours of one another in Evanston are not related.

Investigators were at the scene of two shooting incidents that took place Tuesday afternoon, one of which took place in the same block of Dempster Street as a double shooting the day before.

All three of those shot are expected to survive their injuries, and no one is yet in custody in connection with any of the shootings.

In the first of Tuesday's two shootings, officers were dispatched to a report of that someone had been shot in the 1700 block of Dempster Street around 3 p.m., police said.

They arrived to find a 34-year-old Evanston man with a single gunshot wound. The Evanston Fire Department transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.

Police said they believe the shooter ran away, headed northbound, and remains at large.

About half an hour later, officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Dodge Avenue for another shooting.

They found a 50-year-old Evanston man with a gunshot wound to the hand. He was also transported to a local hospital by the Evanston Fire Department and is in stable condition. The suspect in this incident is also not in custody.

"Detectives are still working to determine the motives, but the investigation indicates that both shootings that took place on Dempster Street might stem from separate ongoing disputes," Cmdr. Ryan Glew said in a statement. "At this time, the motive for the Dodge Street shooting is unknown."

Both shooting scenes were secured, and traffic as closed for several hours. Police asked residents to avoid both locations.

Authorities have stated that there is no indication that Tuesday's shootings are related to each other or to the double shooting on Monday night in the 1700 block of Dempster Street, which left two men, aged 41 and 50, injured.

Evanston police are continuing to investigate all three incidents. They have asked anyone with information about the shootings to contact the department.

The three shootings are the first in Evanston since a 20-year-old man was wounded near Foster Field in May.
