81 Cited During Memorial Day Traffic Safety Enforcement In Evanston
Over Memorial Day weekend, Evanston police issued 81 citations and arrested one person.

EVANSTON, IL — The Evanston Police Department cited 81 people over Memorial Day weekend during the "Click It or Ticket" enforcement period.
During the weekend, police wrote 24 citations for seat belt violations and arrested one person on suspicion of driving under the influence.
“Through the Memorial Day enforcement campaign, we helped make Illinois roads safer and spread the word that seat belts save lives,” said Sergeant Jeff Faison.

Additionally, police issued citations for the following:
- 2 suspended/revoked license
- 3 uninsured motorist citations
- 11 speeding citations
- 17 distracted driving citations
- 26 assorted moving and non-moving citations
The "Click It or Ticket" campaign was funded with federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
