Amtrak Train Hits Dump Truck; Metra Trains Delayed
The Amtrak was bound for Milwaukee when the train hit the truck on the North Side at 2 p.m.
An Amtrak train struck a dump truck on Chicago’s North Side Friday afternoon while on its way to Milwaukee. The rail service was forced to cancel two subsequent trains to and from Milwaukee, and Metra service to the north suburbs is also affected. Metra is reporting 21-minute delays on the Milwaukee District line as of 4 p.m.
The train hit the truck near Caldwell and Devon at about 2 p.m. The Chicago Fire Department responded with several ambulances. Some passengers told authorities they were hurt.
