Biss Declares Victory After Opponent Concedes Evanston Mayor Race
Incumbent Daniel Biss declared victory in the Evanston Mayoral race after his opponent, Jeff Boarini, conceded Tuesday night.

EVANSTON, IL — Incumbent Daniel Biss declared victory Tuesday night after his opponent, Jeff Boarini, conceded the race for Evanston Mayor.
"Thank you, Evanston! I’m honored to have your trust and grateful for the faith you’ve placed in me to serve a second term as Mayor.I received a call from Jeff a few minutes ago. It was collegial and kind – we spoke about ways to work together to move Evanston forward," Biss said in a statement on Facebook.
According to the Evanston Round Table, Biss also addressed supporters at Bluestone restaurant on Central Street at about 8:30 p.m. Boarini spoke to his supporters at his campaign office at 924 Davis St., saying he'd be happy to work with Biss in the future.

In his second term as Mayor of Evanston, Biss vowed to double down on efforts to protect the community "from the monster in the White House."
"This was a campaign that was powered by people who decided they wanted to be part of a positive vision about what we can accomplish together as a community," Biss said. "This election shows that Evanstonians are ready to do the hard work needed to tackle our biggest challenges."

As of 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Cook County Clerk's Office was reporting 1,427 out of 1,430 precincts. Voter turnout this election was 16.92 percent, according to election officials, with 286,013 ballots cast out of 1,690,660 registered voters in Cook County.
In Evanston, all 45 precincts had reported by of 9:30 p.m. and voter turn out was at 32.1 percent, with 16,857 ballots cast out of 52,519 registered voters in the city.
