Take action to reduce the risk of street flooding; hazardous travel conditions expected

With melting snow and up to an inch of rain expected, followed by ice and snow, community members are encouraged to take the following actions to prevent flooding and to keep streets and sidewalks safe:

  • Consider limiting your use of water over the next 24 hours. By reducing or delaying water usage that is not time-critical, such as doing laundry or washing dishes, you'll help our sewers safely handle more stormwater.
  • Clear storm drains of debris, ice and snow to reduce street flooding. Public Works crews have been working to clear drains in Evanston throughout the day.
  • Clear sidewalks of snow and ice; use salt or sand to address any hazards.
  • Use caution when traveling; ice is expected area-wide.

Additional updates will follow, as needed. Thank you for your cooperation!
