The Main Street Corridor Improvement Project will include the reconstruction of Main Street to improve the pedestrian environment, including sidewalks, ADA accommodations, and pedestrian access to transit, as well as new streetscaping elements, roadway, and water main improvements. The project is currently in the design phase, with water main improvements scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2021, and streetscape, roadwork, lighting and other improvements scheduled for 2022.

“The City of Evanston is proud to partner with the Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways on this transformative project,” said Mayor Stephen Hagerty. “Main Street not only provides residents with a vital connection to public transit, it’s also home to some of our city’s most unique and vibrant businesses. These improvements will support safe transportation for all users and strong economic growth for years to come.”
