Complaints Against Evanston Native Murray Halts Movie Project: Reports

EVANSTON, IL — A complaint that alleges reports of inappropriate behavior by actor and Evanston native Bill Murray has halted production of a movie project in which the former Saturday Night Live star has the lead, according to multiple reports.

The complaint, which was first reported by Deadline, does not include specific allegations against Murray, who was born in Evanston in 1950 and later raised in Wilmette, where he attended Loyola Academy.

Murray has the lead in “Being Mortal”, which is being produced by Searchlight Pictures, according to media reports. The New York Times reported that the crew received an emailsaying that production was being suspended because of a complaint. The Deadline report did not include specifics about the nature of the complaint, but sources told the entertainment outlet that the allegations did not involve actor and director Aziz Ansari, co-star Seth Rogen or Youree Henley.

The email said that production executives are looking into the nature of the allegations but that “after reviewing the circumstances, it has been decided that production cannot continue,” The Times reported.

Murray, who previously worked on comedic hits such as “Caddyshack” and “Ghostbusters” was previously involved in a clash with actor Lucy Liu during the filming of “Charlie’s Angels” when, according to reports, he used inexcusable and unacceptable language”

The Deadline report said that the complaint was lodged last week and that production was shut down on Monday.
