Construction Crews Kick Off Six-Week Roadway Work in Evanston
Construction season is officially under way in Evanston. Read on to learn how the under way projects could affect your day-to-day.

EVANSTON, IL - Construction season is officially under way in Evanston, with a multifaceted, six-week roadway and beautification project under way as of this week.
Crews kicked off Monday remaining construction along Emerson Street, Ridge Avenue, Asbury Avenue and the Green Bay Road corridor. The work may come with traffic delays, temporary road closures and parking restrictions, according to a city alert.
Major construction components during the six-week time frame include:

- Street light foundation removals
- Sidewalk removals and replacements
- Planting soil mix preparation and bioswales
- Tree planting and sodding
- Lining sewer structures
- Traffic counts at all intersections to adjust signal timing
- Sign installations
- Punch list items
All associated landscaping and planting is expected to be finished by May, weather permitting.
During construction, traffic control will be set up to maintain one lane access in each direction on Emerson Street, Ridge Avenue, Asbury Avenue and Green Bay Road.

Actual construction dates in each area will be noted on temporary “No Parking” signs that will be posted at least 48 hours prior to the start of the work. Street cleaning and neighborhood parking restrictions will be waived within a one-block radius of construction zones.
The city has retained ESI Consultants, Ltd., to oversee the project. Residents with questions or concerns during construction should contact resident engineer Dave Doffin at 630-918-4113.
