Cook County Officials Announce Due Dates For Property Tax Bills After Long Delay
The second installment for 2024 property tax bills will be mailed on Nov. 14 and will be due by Dec. 15.
EVANSTON, IL — The long-delayed second installment of 2024 property tax bills will be mailed on Friday and will be due by Dec. 15, Cook County officials confirmed this week.
According to Evanston officials, the mailing of the second installment of bills was delayed due to issues upgrading the county's property tax system. This issue has made the window between issuance and payment tighter than normal.
Homeowners who are missing property tax exemptions and wish to receive an adjusted tax bill as soon as possible may submit an Exemption Certificate of Error application to the Cook County Assessor’s Office Skokie branch, located at the Skokie Courthouse, 5600 W. Old Orchard Rd. Appointments are strongly encouraged due to expected long wait times for walk-in visits.
