D65 Appoints New Principal at Lincoln Elementary School

The District 65 board of education formally appointed interim principal Concepcion Calderon as principal of Lincoln Elementary School on Monday, April 8.

Interim principal Concepcion Calderon will formally take over as principal of Lincoln Elementary School this summer, according to a press release from District 65.

Calderon has served as interim principal since former principal Chris McDermott retired last fall.

“During her time at Lincoln, Ms. Calderon has engaged students, faculty and families with a commitment to building community," Supt. Hardy Murphy said in the release. "Her leadership helped ease a mid-year change for all Lincoln stakeholders.”

Calderon served as bilingual curriculum coordinator for District 65 for two years before taking over as interim principal at Lincoln Elementary School. Her previous experience includes teaching middle school at Calmeca Academy of Fine Arts and Dual Language in Chicago and teaching bilingual education at Rodolfo Lozano Bilingual Center in Chicago. 

She told the public that she looks forward to "continuing to build the community of learners as we grow," according to the release.
