Details on Street Closures, Parking Restrictions During Obama Visit
Here's what you need to know to avoid problems driving through Evanston Thursday before, during and after Obama's visit to Northwestern.

The following is from the City of Evanston:
President Barack Obama will visit Evanston on Thursday, October 2 to deliver a message on the economy to students at Northwestern University and the Kellogg School of Management. The speech will be delivered at 1:15 p.m. in Cahn Auditorium, 600 Emerson St., on the Evanston campus. Therefore, in northeast Evanston, street parking restrictions will be in place and some streets will be closed.
Based on the information received by the City, there will be no public access at or near Cahn Auditorium.

PARKING RESTRICTIONS
To accommodate the event, the City of Evanston will be restricting parking on October 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Orrington Ave. (Foster to Emerson), Foster St. (Orrington to Sheridan) and Emerson St. (Sherman to Orrington). Signs are posted in the restricted areas.
ROAD CLOSURES
Between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on October 2, the following streets will be affected:

- Sheridan Rd. from Dartmouth to Hinman Ave. (both directions)
- Chicago Ave. from Clark St. to Sheridan Rd.
- Foster St. from Sherman Ave. to Sheridan Rd.
- Emerson St. from Sherman Ave. to Sheridan Rd.
- Orrington Ave. from Foster St. to Emerson St.
Only resident vehicles needing access to their homes will be allowed within one block of the street closures north of Emerson St.
All vehicle traffic planning to use Sheridan Road after 11 a.m. are asked to use alternate routes.
