The Douglas Center is Hiring!

Skokie - Are you passionate about art and making a difference? The Douglas Center in Skokie, IL is looking for a Part-Time Art Facilitator to guide adults with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities in expressing their creativity through hands-on artistic experiences.

As part of our Art From the Heart Creations program, participants create beautiful pieces—including mosaics, jewelry, paintings, and paper crafts—that are sold throughout the community. Your role will be to inspire, encourage, and adapt art techniques to meet individual abilities, helping each artist develop confidence and independence.

If you are a skilled artist with a strong background in mosaic art and other mixed media, and you have a passion for empowering others through creative expression, we want to hear from you!

What You’ll Do:

• Teach and guide participants in developing their artistic skills, with a primary focus on mosaics and other sellable art.
• Adapt art techniques to meet individual abilities and needs.
• Lead group art sessions in a positive, inclusive environment.
• Develop fresh ideas for creative projects that align with program goals.
• Encourage self-expression while fostering confidence and independence.

Who We’re Looking For:

✔ Experienced artist with strong skills in mosaic art (a must!) as well as experience in jewelry, painting and other mediums.

✔ Passionate about art’s impact on individuals of all abilities

✔ Patient, flexible, and creative, with an ability to adapt teaching styles

✔ Experience working with adults with disabilities is a plus (but not required—we provide training!)
