EVANSTON, IL — Evanston Police are searching for the driver of a white SUV that was involved in a hit-and-run accident earlier this month that was reported over the weekend after the daughter of the victim who was hit came to police.

The 53-year-old Evanston woman was crossing Chicago Avenue at the intersection of Dempster Street on Feb. 8 when she was struck by a white SUV, police said on Tuesday. At the time, the woman was taken to Evanston Hospital and admitted to intensive care, but was unable to tell police what had happened, police said.

At the time, the woman said she believed she fell because of a medical event, police said. But the woman’s daughter contacted police on Saturday to inform detectives that her mother had been the victim of a hit-and-run accident.
