She was a dedicated, creative English teacher for 30 years at Nichols Middle School in Evanston, Illinois, and department head for many years. She touched the lives of her students profoundly. Once retired, she continued to be an active member of her community: contributing to many charities, participating both as an actor and behind the scenes of Winnetka Community Theater, volunteering at the Evanston Hospital gift shop, giving tours as a docent for Chicago Architectural Tours, serving on her condo board, and taking a keen interest in her family and friends. She maintained her sparkling wit and sharp intellect by taking classes at Northwestern University, attending many cultural events, reading voraciously, and traveling extensively.
