The Evanston varsity baseball team got a much needed 11-4 victory over Highland Park Saturday afternoon to win its second straight game. Eli Otting keyed a 5 run fifth inning for the Kits with a home run to right center field. The Highland Park centerfielder actually had the catch but lost control of it as he ran into the centerfield fence. The ball popped out of his glove and went over the fence. Otting's homerun came immediately after Michael Pope ripped a double scoring Jack Blanchard. Pope was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI in the game and Blanchard was 2 for 3. Brandon Vamarasi also had 2 hits for Evanston.
James Hageman came up big in a clutch start on the mound going 4 innings giving up 1 run and striking out 5. Hunter Bailey pitched the final 3 in relief and followed his impressive relief outing yesterday against Payton.
The Kits are now 19-11 on the season and play Monday at Glenbrook South the begin the last week of the regular season which will consist of games Monday thru Thursday and then Saturday.
